Bristile Roofing presented its premium, European-style terracotta roof tile range, La Escandella Ceramica, at Grand Designs Live Sydney 2013 which was held recently in the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The award-winning annual exhibition is the definitive consumer event for design-savvy people passionate about all aspects of home design, decoration and renovation. The show is an official extension of the hugely successful Grand Designs international television program which follows the progress of home builders in pursuit of architectural excellence.

The live Sydney show, now in its third year, has already positioned itself as one of Australia’s most dynamic and innovative home design expos, offering a comprehensive showcase of premium building, interior, kitchen, bathroom and outdoor products, to inspire visitors to create their own ‘grand design’.

The three-day event kicked off on October 18, after being officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by Grand Designs Australia host Peter Madison as well as a number of Foxtel Lifestyle Channel talent including the Selling Houses Australia team.

Around 20,000 visitors came through the doors over duration of the event, from the general home conscious consumer to renovation enthusiasts, designers, builders and architects, all looking to be inspired by modern architectural designs, educated on the latest building innovations, encouraged by the diverse range of sustainable solutions and immersed in the creative atmosphere.

While visitors could pick up tips, tricks, quotes and inspiration on the show floor to help them build, renovate or update their homes, they could also listen to the likes of Selling Houses Australia hosts Shaynna Blaze and Andrew Winter, the aforementioned Peter Maddison and host of Grand Designs UK Kevin McCloud, who all presented on an array of different topics at the at the popular Grand Theatre.

The Bristile Roofing stand was also a well-loved destination at the event, drawing throngs of visitors eager to check out the beautifully displayed La Escandella Ceramica range.

The Visum and Grande ranges proved immensely popular, with their classic elegance and sharp, clean lines offering a sophisticated, enduring look to complement Sydney’s many historic builders and federation homes.

The sleek, refined Planum tile also impressed visitors, particularly in its contemporary new colours Oyster, Caviar, Cocoa and Pepper, which were launched earlier this year. Visitors also appreciated the tile’s innovative design and size which makes them faster and easier to install, significantly reducing time and costs associated with installation.

With growing importance placed on sustainability and the environment, green building design was a key focus for the show. Experts were on hand offering advice on state-of-the-art technologies and eco-friendly building practices at the Sustainable Building Stage, whilst the Bristile team offered visitors at the stand tips and advice on reducing energy usage in their next building project by utilising the principles of passive design.

The team also informed visitors about some of the environmental benefits of building with terracotta tiles including their good thermal mass properties which enable the material to store warmth and stabilise internal temperature fluctuations, ultimately reducing the need for artificial heating and cooling.
