Ed Stelling's answerBifold doors require a high level of support for their weight. A sliding door requires a lot less support.
First, you need to consult your builder to see if there is a suitable lintel in place already. If the lintel is in place then you are only up for a standard installation, perhaps $1,000 or so.
The cost of installing a lintel, would be more than the bifold door, so get a few quotes.
