The difference should be negligible. We have direct stick floorboards and carpet. We put the skirtings on after the boards went down. No issues here.

rectified is nicer IMO.. all our tiles are rectified. Ask your supplier for recommendations on a good tiler. The straight flat lines make the rooms look larger.
