Ours is vented to our roof space, I think that's standard. If you have a whirly bird thing on your roof it's meant to ventilate that space.

Coloured concrete would be the way to go. Painted driveways will wear and peel. Don't think there would be a huge cost difference if you have a fairly standard colour
