A New Home for the Family Car in Ryde
Rear Garage Conversion
Architecturally designed, this double garage was turned into a very stylish retreat, with storage rooms adjoining. The warmth of the spotted gum flooring combined with the custom built cabinetry have enhanced the overall feeling of this once garage, into a newly renovated retreat.
A large sliding door was designed to let in the morning sun, whilst taking full advantage of the garden area. The front of the building was then clad with Western Red Cedar. A small awning and bench were incorporated into the design, creating a truly stylish exterior for the new retreat. The original paving was kept, whilst steps and a fish pond were incorporated into the new landscaping works to allow access to the next level.
Complete with its own en suite and courtyard, the decision to turn the garage space into living space has been a great success. This allows our clients the flexibility to share their home with friends and relatives, whilst still maintaining the privacy of their own home.
After completing the Garage conversion, we commenced work on the new carport; with the rear carport gone, the family car needed a new home. Brick piers with sandstone capping, terracotta tiles and matching finishes to the house were considered when building the new Carport. Not wanting a solid wall at the rear of the carport, but with privacy in mind, we used slatted timbers to achieve this, allowing for a filtered view of the yard.
On completion of the Retreat and new Carport, the owners decided a nip tuck to their home would give it a fresh look. As the home had been well maintained by the owners, there were only a few areas that needed attention. These included; Tuck pointing to brickwork, new tiles to front verandah, painting to front of house, fence, installation of electric gates, and new terracotta tiles to roof.
