What are the ways to lay the mattress flat if in storage?

When it comes to ensuring the longevity and optimal shape of your mattress, proper storage is key. In another article on homeone, we have shared why it’s important to keep a mattress flat when in storage. But how can we do that?

Firstly, it's important to find a clean and dry storage area. Dampness can lead to the growth of mould, which can damage your mattress. So, avoid storing it in a basement or attic where humidity levels may be higher.

Next, to store your mattress flat, we have a couple of suggestions.

If you’ll be using moving boxes, make sure you buy enough of the same height so they can be stacked neatly and then the mattress can simply rest on top inside a TROVERR mattress bag. There would be no harm in leaving some gaps between the boxes too to help air circulation.

The other way to do this, if the moving boxes method is difficult, would be to use a few pallets, whether homemade or sourced. If you make them yourself or have someone, make them for you, you can also make sure the gaps are small between each piece of wood. Elevate the pallets off the ground and create a flat surface. Just make sure the boxes or pallets are all the same height to prevent any uneven pressure on the mattress.

Lastly, if you can, once in a while just check on your mattress while it's in storage.
