Michael Sichel with Leafscreener

Many inventors have contributed to the gutter protection industry, with different mesh types and installation method ideas. There' now so many different options to choose from. This can mean that homeowners spend a lot of time scratching their heads trying to figure out which gutter guard will work best.
The inventions of gutter guard in Australia, cannot be properly addressed without the recognition of Michael Sichel. Michael is widely credited as being the inventor of what we now refer to as the "Ski slope style" fitting method. In the above photo you can see Peter Whittle from Leafscreener Sydney with Michael Sichel. Michael is holding up his design award!

About the system
For tiled roofs, the gutter mesh is normally cut to about 50cm. Roughly 2cm of this mesh is tucked under your second row of tiles, with the mesh edge being bolted to your gutter roll bead. This fit creates a slippery slope and most leaves and debris just slide off the roof, allowing water to flow more freely. For flat roofs and corrugated roofs, there are special saddle clips to hold the mesh in place.

Take care to choose the right gutter guard for your roof, or we recommend you consult with a roofing expert for advice! From our experience, their is no gutter guard that works better than the "ski slope style" fit.
