Neighbours refusing to talk to us about fencing

I'll give it until the end of the week. Then I'll just build the fence, and book in a hearing with the magistrate.
Best case, they finally come to the party,…

Neighbours refusing to talk to us about fencing

This is getting Pythonesque.
I managed to get a mobile number for one of the owners from someone in the neighbourhood, so I called her.
After explaining the situation politely, the conversation…

I was of that opinion, and was prepared to just pay for the whole fence, and get on with things.
But my wife is adamant that it's much worse to start…

Neighbours refusing to talk to us about fencing

I'll try them on Monday.
I'm pretty sure where I stand legally, but the issue is really contacting the neighbours. If I can't contact them to serve a Fencing Notice…

Neighbours refusing to talk to us about fencing

In NSW, the Dividing Fences Act states that they are obliged to pay half. Unfortunately, many people refuse to believe this, leading to disputes.

That's what I've been leaning towards doing.
I'll go see the council this afternoon, and get their advice.
If they can't help, I'll book in an appointment with the Local Court Magistrate,…

This is not the case in NSW:

Under the Dividing Fences Act 1991, adjoining owners must
share the cost of the fence, except that:

We're very close to moving in to our new house. Handover is done, flooring, window coverings and the driveway are done... it's an exciting time.
However, we have a problem with…

Building works next door encroaching onto our land

Just an update.
Everything has been resolved with Eden Brae and our neighbours on that side. The fence went up a couple of weeks ago, and it's all looking good.
We've had…

McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread

We had another inspection of our house yesterday, and McDonald Jones have fixed up all the issues we found during last week's PCI. It's all basically perfect at this stage…

I just heard back from our site supervisor about the results of the PCI.
They have looked at the (mostly cosmetic) issues raised, and will be addressing all the ones I…

Honestly, the issues are pretty minor with the exception of the alfresco cornice. Just paint touch-ups, door alignments, and that sort of thing. We'll see if our private inspector picks…

Yes, it will all be fixed before we pay the final installment (except the minor issues that we're fine to leave as-is).
We'll also get a private inspection too before…

That is so dependent on the site and the council, it's difficult to even guess.
Our site costs, on an almost dead-flat block with an M-class slab worked out around $10,000.…

We would have got out of colours for under $1000 if we hadn't decided to upgrade the kitchen. Electricals were something like $85, with only one extra power point, and…
