Just done quick google search for double stud, couldn't find what you mean (2 studs running vertically to side of window?) The timber frames are 140 x 45mm.

Could you be more specific - how high exactly are your ceilings?
Regular ceilings are at a minimum 8 feet high - are your ceilings really 16 feet high??
