Definitely the way to do it- remove the piece of timber that is easiest to access the screws. Most sliding doors come with an offset spanner to adjust the nuts…

Thanks, I have to say the house looks huge in pics but it isnt really all that big (being an undercroft design)
Floors were done by a local company AFTER handover.
