Lex, there is a very small gap at the bottom, underneath the blinds, perhaps 3mm. Otherwise blinds would scrape along the floor/window frame when you opened or shut them …

The slats sit pretty close together when closed. I think the ones with a bottom chain might have a bit more of a gap.
