Our landscaper is in Sydney so not sure if it will help you.
We have $35k worth of retaining walls (above ground & below ground) all up around 80m total.

Oh there's pros and cons either way. We have 8m frontage too so it's a long driveway as you will know.

Nah the noggins go inside the plaster so it's hard to install afterwards.

The noggins should be installed above the light point for the screws to fit the lights.
If no noggins then bunnings sell a special screws which supports up to 4kg light.
