Thanks OurLindrum52, appreciate the feedback.
Lights sound like the general way to do things, especially getting the layout right on the ground floor.
Curious as to how they ran the cabling in…

Guilty as charged on the XBMC nut JMAP! We love it for all our tv/movie viewing. Apple TVs are nice and small & silent, and get great WAF too!

Interesting JMAP.
As we look to build, I've been thinking about what to do to prepare for NBN.
Btw, I'm in suburbia, and won't get NBN for years fwiw.
What I'm planning is…

You do not need cat6 for NBN.
Cat5 certainly does send data in both directions (the cable is made up of pairs for sending & receiving).
There should be minimal price difference…

Great to hear you have it sorted! Cat6 is best if you can.
Just don't expect to be buffer free just becaue you use cat6, as that's traffic control and hardware…

Very little difference now, as cat5e can do 1Gbps, and that's all you get in standard residential computers & networking equipment, so in some regards that's a fair statement.
But the…

Will Metricoin allow you to get your own cabler in, or just put in some holes and run some draw/pull lines for putting in later yourself?
